(0061-1765)

June 13, 1956. Unloading at receiving dock of Boeing’s Renton, Washington plant is the last piston engine to be delivered to the company. The engine, a Pratt & Whitney R-4360-59 Wasp Major, was shipped as a complete power pack from Rohr Aircraft Corp., Chula Vista, CA. It is one of four which will be installed on the last Boeing KC-97 Stratofreighter tanker-transport bringing to a close the company’s nearly four decades of manufacturing reciprocating engine aircraft.
